OBRAS CIVILES DEL ATLÁNTICO, S.L. is a Spanish company which began operations in 2003 performing civil works in industrial facilities for transport and energy distribution.
Subsequently, in 2005, it acquired 78% of the shares of the company Excavaciones Santa Cruz, S.L., which specializes in earthmoving, this becoming the starting milestone for the creation of what is today known as the OCA GROUP. Therefore, the start of operations as a corporate group is strongly tied to earthmoving works and civil works in industrial installations, with a staff of highly experienced professionals in these areas.

From the beginning of its operations as a GROUP, the company has been evolving and diversifying its fields of operations, with a current strong specialisation in turnkey construction in industrial infrastructure projects, particularly those associated with the generation of energy.
In this sense, the OCA GROUP has made a constant effort to provide differential value against competing firms in the industry, through three fundamental precepts:
- A strict fulfillment of the execution DEADLINES agreed upon
- Maximum level of AUTONOMY during the production process
- Exaustive care for BRAND IMAGE
Therefore, we can assert that the OCA GROUP provides top value in emblematic projects where “time is of the essence” and the level of risk/complexity is moderate/high, which are common characteristics in many energy generation projects.
OCA GROUP’s historic role in the projects in which it has collaborated has been mainly that of NOMINATED SUBCONTRACTOR for the main contractor, always taking on highly relevant and critical responsibilities. In this sense, the average volume of the contracts has been 10 MM USD (amounts for which we were able to guarantee strict fulfillment due to the volume of available assets), so in these past few years the common situation was to simultaneously work in one or two relevant projects.
However, since 2013, the OCA GROUP has undertaken important investments, allowing it to grow and to take on higher-volume contracts with the same level of guarantee. Following a natural course, its traditional role as subcontractor has evolved to its current role as MAIN CONTRACTOR, collaborating with larger companies when required by the volume of the contract.
The OCA GROUP has always had a clear aim towards internationalisation, having a very specific business model and, therefore having a large geographical dispersion. In this sense, our main references are strongly tied to the geographic regions where clients have requested our services.
The OCA GROUP’s first relevant international experience ocurred 2008, in an important hydroelectric infrastructure project in Algeria for Spanish company ELECNOR. As a result of that project, the trend has been to progressively increase the work volume performed outside Spain, with this figure standing at over 80% beginning in 2013.
Finally, it is worth mentioning the OCA GROUP’s strong financial position, being a company with an extremely low debt ratio relative to its EBITDA (<0,1x) as well as an excellent liquidity position, which translates into having an excellent support from the banking sector, allowing it to undertake highly demanding projects relative to the level of guarantees.
